Timbisha Shoshone Tribe still fights Yucca Mountain

The
Timbisha Shoshone Tribe of Nevada isn't convinced that the
Yucca Mountain site is dead even though
President Barack Obama said he won't provide funding to the controversial project.
The tribe is among the closest to the proposed nuclear waste repository and has sought to be included in decisions about the project. Despite Obama's stance, Chairman Joe Kennedy said the tribe will continue to fight.
"There's always a chance it could be revived. As far as this project goes, it looks like it's still moving ahead," Kennedy told The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
But
Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona), the former chairman of the
Senate Indian Affairs Committee, is giving up. He said the government should consider an alternative now that Obama won't fund the project.
